Leeds Area Guide
Hyde Park
Hyde Park is the most popular and vibrant area to choose for student accommodation in Leeds. Hyde Park is crammed full of affordable student housing. In Hyde Park there are fast food establishments aplenty, as well as cafes and grocery stores on every corner. There are three main watering holes in Hyde Park which sell fairly cheap beer. There is also the Hyde Park Picture House, a gorgeous, retro, one-screen cinema that adds a little old-school charm to the area. In addition there are lots of cool and quirky shops which contribute to Hyde Park's unique atmosphere.
To add to its convenience, student accommodation in Hyde Park is also walking distance to both Leeds University and Leeds Met (City Campus). The park itself is big and beautiful, especially in the sunnier months, and provides a scenic route to both Universities. Hyde Park is a very cosmopolitan and lively backdrop for student housing with a good mix of students and locals, from all ages and backgrounds.
Headingley
Headingley is the second most popular area for student housing in Leeds and is regarded by many to be Leeds' "studentsville". A mixture of students from both Leeds University and Leeds Met rent student accommodation here.
Headingley is close to Leeds Met, (Beckett Campus) and is an extra 10 minutes by bus to the city centre. Headingley has expanded in recent years, which has brought a touch of class to the area. As well as a multitude of quality student residences, Headingley also contains several very popular restaurants, cool bars and convenient shops, which makes it genuine "city living" but on a smaller scale. Headingley has so much to offer and it's easy to see why it's such a popular area for student lettings.
Burley
Another popular area for student accommodation is Burley, located between Hyde Park and Headingley, and therefore walking distance between both of those popular student housing areas.
Burley is seen more as a neighbour to the main student areas of Hyde Park and Headingley, rather than one itself. The added perk of student accommodation in Burley is its proximity to the Cardigan Fields complex which includes the Warner Village – a popular complex hosting mainstream entertainment such as bowling, a cinema, gym, several restaurants, bars and a club. Apart from the restaurants within Cardigan Fields, Burley has a choice of good eateries. Additionally, Burley has a selection of local pubs including the Haddon Hall (which shows football) as well as several convenience stores.
Woodhouse
Student accommodation in Woodhouse is the closest location you will find to Leeds City centre and the Leeds University: you are just minutes away from the City Centre and all that it has to offer. As well as being near to the other popular student housing areas such as Hyde Park, Woodhouse's proximity to the University has the added benefit of meaning that travel costs to University are minimised. Another advantage of student housing in Woodhouse is that it tends to be cheaper than other areas.
Moortown
Moortown is located a little further out of the city, and tends to appeal more to mature students. Depending on the location of the student accommodation that you choose, you're in close proximity to the Chapel Allerton area that has several well-known bars and restaurants as well as being a short bus journey to Roundhay Park.
